+ General Information +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Slide-2-Second Trivia will be referred to from here in as S2S. S2S is a
multinode capable trivia door, who's questions are for baseball fans. There
are 29 question databases, only the questions on the World Series are in the
SHAREWARE version.
To run S2S multinode you will need a multitasker and SHARE.EXE loaded
in memory.
S2S is SHAREWARE, if you continue to use it beyond a resonable evaluation
period, which I believe to be 30 days, you are required to register it.
Once registered, the user will be able to pick from availible trivia topics
(depending on which registration package you choose). The door will also
create a display showing which user has the best average for each trivia
topic as well as a top ten list.

+ Registration Info +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The questions are seperated into databases, the World Series, which
is distributed in the SHAREWARE version of the door, and there are databases
of questions for each of the current baseball teams. To get questions other
than the World Series, you must mail in the registration form with your
payment and call the registration BBS, the number for which is at the end
of this document. A pricing list follows:
Registration of World Series: $10.00
World Series and All American League Teams: $15.00
World Series and All National League Teams: $15.00
Full Registration: $20.00
(World Series, National and American Leagues)

+ Registration Info +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We may be able to provide you with questions for now defunct
teams. You will have to call to check on availibility first, also
you MUST purchase a registration. If you want to register single
teams the pricing is $1.50 per team, and you must also purchase a
registration.
TO REGISTER, FILL OUT THE REG.DOC AND MAIL IT WITH YOU PAYMENT TO THE
ADDRESS SPECIFIED IN THE REG.DOC.
As more questions become availible for each team (we are currently
working on more for each team), they will be availible for download
for registered sysops.

+ Configuring the door +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
To configure the door simply run the CONFIG.EXE program, be sure you're in
the same directory as the S2S.CFG is in. Following is a description of what
each line of the configuration file does...
S2S 2.0 supports all of the most popular door data file formats TriBBS,
PCBoard, GAP (DOOR.SYS), Spitfire, WildCat!, RBBS, and WWIV.
The S2S door is run by entering a command similar to the following:
S2S config nonstandardirq
In the above command line, S2S is the name of the S2S EXE file and the
"config" parameter is the name of the door's configuration file. The
configuration file can have any name the sysop chooses, but it must reside
in the same directory as the door. The configuration file is an ASCII
text file with the following format:
Line 1: Door data file type.
Line 2: Path to the door data file(s).
Line 3: BBS name.
Line 4: Sysop's name.
Line 5: Locked baud rate.
Line 6: Do you wish to use aliases instead of real name in the bulletins
Line 7: Maximum times the door can be played each day.
Line 8: Time limit for each question asked.
As illustrated above, the door's data file type is specified in line 1 and
can be one of the following values:
PCB for PCBoard
GAP for GAP (DOOR.SYS)
SF for Spitfire
RBBS for RBBS
WC for WildCat!
TRIBBS for TriBBS
WWIV for WWIV
Line 2 is the directory where the drop files are located. Line 3 should be
your BBS name EXACTLY as it appears in your drop files. Line 4 should be the
Sysop's name EXACTLY as it appears in the drop files. The locked baud rate is
specified in line 5. If you don't lock your serial port, you must specify 0
for the locked baud rate.
NOTE: Although many door formats do pass the locked baud rate in the
door data files, some older formats such as RBBS do not. For
conformity, the library used to write the door requires that you
specify the locked baud rate in line 5 and ignores any value
passed in the door data files.
Line 6 is used to specify that you wish to use aliases or real names in the
bulletins, S2S generates. The aliases are taken from the door drop files
the BBS creates. Valid values are "YES" and "NO". Line 7 is the
maximum number of times the door can be played per day, this line is optional.
The default is 1 time per day. Line 8 is the time limit, in seconds, that is
allowed per question. This line is also optional. The default is 60 seconds.
The following is a sample door configuration file:
TRIBBS
C:\TRIBBS\
The Workbench
Kenneth Lovin
19200
UseAlias=NO
PlaysPerDay = 5
TimePerQuestion = 10
The "nonstandardirq" command line parameter is used to specify a nonstandard
IRQ for the serial port. The valid range of values is from 0 to 15.
S2S can be run locally without a door data file by specifying LOCAL
after the configuration file parameter in the DOS command line. S2S
will request the user to enter his name before running the door.
While S2S is running, the sysop can press certain special keys to
perform a variety of functions. The following is a list of the functions
that the S2S special keys perform:
Key(s) Function
---------- ----------------------------------------------------
HOME Toggles between the user status window and a help
display that lists the special keys.
F6 Takes 5 minutes away from the caller.
NOTE: This will NOT be returned to BBS.
F7 Gives 5 minutes to the caller.
NOTE: This will NOT be returned to the BBS.
F9 Quit the door and return the caller to the BBS.
F10 Enter chat mode. Pressing the ESC key exits the
chat mode.
Alt+D Drop to DOS.
S2S updates the Top Ten List AND the Managers List each time the door is
played. It writes a NEW bulletin, in @X color coded format, each time.
The bulletin file is named "S2S.BBS", and is located in the directory the
executable is in. It also creates two other files with the extension of
".ANS", these are used by the door.

+ Utilities +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
There is a file "RESET.EXE" included in this package to reset all the users
scores. You use this utility by making sure it's in the same directory as
all the door files. It let's you reset the scores of all users on a specified
day of the month. To run it you do the following:
1.) Make sure you are in the same directory with the USER.DAT file.
2.) Type RESET and the day of the month you want the user scores
reset on at the DOS prompt and it's done. To save some effort
on your part you should include this to your nightly board
reset.
here's an example:
C:\TRIBBS\DOORS\S2S>reset 1
and press enter. This will reset the door on the first day of the month.
There is a file "UPGRADE.EXE" included in this package to convert user data
records from the SHAREWARE version to the registered version. It requires
that you have your key file and you will be prompted to enter your BBS name
and your name (Sysop name).
1.) Make sure you are in doors directory and have your key file in the
doors directory.
2.) Type UPGRADE and follow the prompts. You MUST enter your BBS name
and your name (Sysop name) AS IT APPEARS IN YOUR DROP FILES for the
UPGRADE.EXE program to work properly.
There is one more file "CONFIG.EXE" included in this package to help you
configure your "S2S.CFG" file. Be sure you're in the same directory as the
S2S.CFG before running it. After you've entered all information it will
ask you if you want to save it as "S2S.CFG", this is so if you're running
a multinode board configuration will be easy for you to rename the file.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
